“I wanted to share my observations as a candidate and wish to commend you and your staff for the outstanding process put together. It has demonstrated the value of utilizing a professional search firm not just for candidate recruitment but also for how it impacts the candidate's views of the organization the firm is representing. As I have talked to friends that are applying for positions, it is clear that a poorly designed or executed process is significant to the enthusiasm of a candidate to continue to pursue or reapply with an organization in the future. While this may not have the same effect as during times of lower unemployment, it demonstrates to me the influence the process has on even highly qualified candidates and the reputation of the organization “on the street.”
In particular to my view of the process was Ms. Heyden's excellent work in keeping me, and I assume all candidates, informed throughout the process and confirming the receipt of materials. This was very reassuring to me as a candidate and something that does not seem to be a priority among most state and private hiring departments. As we discussed, the only uncertainty throughout the process was not having guidance on the length of the additional questionnaire. However, it is clear to me now that the lack of guidance provided an opportunity for you to judge the candidate's ability to make a reasoned judgment of what was an appropriate and relevant response, which will be a necessity for this position on a daily basis.
